Growing the Global Ecommerce Development Survey with the World Bank
Nextrade has worked in 2018-20 with the World Bank to build a global database, so far with 32 countries, to enable aid agencies and governments to identify the priority constraints to ecommerce in their countries and different firm segments, and prioritize polices and programs for ecommerce development, building on Nextrade's initial pilot survey and instruments carried out in 2016-17.

In 2018, we scaled the survey across thousands of firms n Southeast Asia (Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam) and South Asia (India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka).

In 2019, we continued with firms in the Middle East and North Africa in Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and UAE.

In 2020 we surveyed firms in the Pacific islands region, in Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu.

In 2021, we are growing a digital business survey in Central America with IFC, in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
