Senior Manager, Digital Trade and Development
Nextrade Group is a woman-owned data and analytics company that helps governments, multilateral development banks, and Fortune 500 technology companies to enable international trade through technology. We have been hired by more than 50 clients, most of them repeat, to ideate, architect, and build policy-relevant data products, analytics, and business solutions to accelerate the use of ecommerce, blockchain, and artificial intelligence in the global trade ecosystem.

Nextrade has conceptualized and built groundbreaking data and analytical products, strategies, policy and technology pilots to accelerate the use of technology in trade. We have also ideated, branded and built from scratch eight global initiatives and public-private partnerships with leading companies, international institutions, and governments to accelerate digitization, most recently and USAID’s first PPP in ecommerce development, Alliance for eTrade Development I and II, with 15 leading global technology companies, and the Prosper Africa Tech for Trade Alliance aimed to promote trade and productivity in Africa through U.S. technologies with 17 companies.

Nextrade is currently seeking a dynamic Senior Manager to work closely with our CEO and team in our engagements, build out our engagements with our corporate partners and federal government, especially USAID, in Latin America, Africa and Asia, and work with our CEO to develop businesses and continually improve operations and compliance capabilities. The Senior Manager will be a key member of the company's close-knit management team of four.
The position is remote.
The tasks include:

Operationalize and manage projects and public-private partnerships to enable technology solutions, designing interventions and authoring scopes of work in partnership with private sector partners and donors such as USAID in Latin America, Africa and Asia, and ensuing word-class project execution

Work with company CEO to build up our government practice and continually improve and professionalize back-end systems, compliance, accounting, certifications

Help manage external consultants’ workstreams, reporting, and invoicing

Manage government projects’ quarterly reporting, including on the substance of work and KPIs met, and preparation of inputs to the meetings

Ensure outstanding execution for impact, to meet project KPIs

Work with interns and research team to build insight and learning, and translate our and external empirical work into project design
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, JD or Master’s preferred
-
8-10 years in operational experience in some combination of international development, international trade, finance, technology sector, and public-private partnerships

Experience with government contracting, compliance, budgeting, business development, and programming, ideally with strong operations management experience with USAID

Highly accountable and reliable self-starter, with a business developer’s sense of urgency to create new opportunities for our clients and partners

Nextrade is currently seeking a Research Manager to support our CEO in (1) building out our policy-relevant data and research work with public and private sector clients on digital trade, ecommerce, digital payments, digital and trade policies, and climate and trade; (2) operationalizing new proprietary data and analytical products for the company’s clientele; and (3) developing the learning, monitoring and evaluation platform, most immediately in the eTrade Alliance.
You will often work in settings where data are limited, qualitative, and messy, and where we often ideate and develop our own databases from scratch and analytics based on them.
The position is remote.
The tasks include:

Develop and build out databases on such issues and digital policies and new indices to measure ecommerce ecosystems, using qualitative and quantitative data;

Author white papers and reports based on research findings;

Manage tracking of KPIs and monitoring and evaluation in USAID-support projects
-
Develop and build out thought leadership products assessing the impact of development interventions to promote digital trade; sharpen KPIs and measurement techniques

Work with the CEO to productize the company’s data and analytical offerings
-
Work closely with the company’s clients and managers to ensure our analytics are as value-adding and actionable to our customers and translate into new and more impactful programmatic solutions

Coordinate and work with interns and analysts to develop data analytics
-
Be ready to turn around data and analytics and quickly reprioritize work to meet urgent client requests
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s or PhD preferred

3-6 years research experience in policy-relevant work in international development, trade, finance, technology sector

Great zest for data and research and the process of discovery and development of actionable advice for clients, working with diverse types of data and reimagining methods to create data

Highly accountable and high-integrity – cut no corners even when faced with messy and incomplete data and data that tell stories we were not prepared to hear

Scientist mindset – critical thinker who values frank reporting and continuous improvement, loves to think of new approaches to access and improve data
