Senior Manager / Director

Nextrade Group is a woman-owned data and analytics company that helps governments, multilateral development banks, and Fortune 500s to enable international trade through technology. We have been hired by more than 50 clients, most of them repeat, to ideate, architect, and build policy-relevant data products, analytics, and business solutions to accelerate the use of ecommerce, blockchain, and artificial intelligence in the global trade ecosystem.

Nextrade has conceptualized and built groundbreaking data and analytical products, strategies, policy and technology pilots to accelerate the use of technology in trade. We have also created and built eight global initiatives and public-private partnerships with leading companies, international institutions, and governments to accelerate digitization, most recently and USAID’s first PPP in ecommerce development, Alliance for eTrade Development with 15 leading global technology companies, and the Prosper Africa Tech for Trade Alliance with 20 companies.

 

Nextrade is currently seeking a dynamic senior manager to support our CEO in our public sector work, such as the eTrade Alliance, Africa Tech for Trade Alliance, Egypt TRADE, and Future Growth Initiative in Central Asia. The position can be Director-level, depending on experience.

 

The tasks include:

 

  • Manage Nextrade Group’s public sector project portfolio, coordinate staff, and ensure outstanding project delivery, working closely with the team and clients

  • Manage specific projects and workstreams in selected projects in Asia, MENA, Africa and Latin America

  • Develop and operationalize private sector-led projects in the eTrade Alliance and Africa Tech for Trade Alliance, designing interventions and authoring scopes of work collaboratively and in close partnership with private sector partners

  • Organize policy events and technical workshops, leading convening with public and private sector leaders

  • Manage consultant workflows across all Nextrade projects

  • Ensure outstanding execution for impact, to meet project KPIs across the portfolio

  • Select and coordinate interns on occasion

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s or PhD preferred

  • Strong management experience with USAID and donor-funded projects and programming; strong understanding about USAID compliance

  • At least 10 years in operational and management experience in some combination of international development, trade, technology sector, and public-private partnerships

  • Highly accountable and reliable self-starter with a sense of urgency

  • Strong technical understanding of international trade, trade facilitation, digital technologies and client agendas in these areas

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

  • Empathetic consensus-builder, with patient and courteous demeanor

  • “Workhorse” executing with excellence for its own sake

  • Growth mindset to create great things from nothing and make the pie bigger for everyone

  • “No job too simple or small”-attitude – this is essential in a small business where you will have to wear many hats and dig deep

  • Desire to grow a small business with big clients

  • Native written and spoken English, proficiency in Spanish and/or Arabic

  • Outstanding references
