Nextrade CEO Kati Suominen spoke today on the future of trade at the conference "Redefining Trade: A New Vision for Competitiveness & Prosperity" at Arizona State University. Featuring policy and business leaders across North America, the event focused on the future of NAFTA and American trade in the digitizing world economy.
Suominen discussed the transformations in globalization and U.S. trade and economy created by ecommerce, digitally-enabled services, and 3D printing and intelligent robots. She highlighted as challenges to fluid digital trade the "splinternet" - restrictive and divergent national digital regulations - as well as gaps in technology adoption by American middle
market companies, and limited mobility and opportunities for low-skilled workers, and proposed solutions to them. Her PPT can be found here.
